Introduction

We built the half-white SK15 halogen heating lamp as a direct-fit heat source for blowing machines. It is a 350mm, 220V, 2000W lamp engineered for fast, stable, and controllable infrared output in industrial blow molding and PET blowing lines.
Technical Deep-Dive: Power, Voltage, and Dimensions
The core of this lamp is its 2000W rating on a 220V supply. That power level is chosen to deliver high heat density in a compact footprint, so you can heat the parison or preform zone without spreading the heat over a large area. A 350mm overall length gives you enough radiating surface to produce a uniform temperature profile along the heating zone, while keeping the lamp short enough to fit tight machine bays. The 220V rating is practical for standard plant power distribution. It reduces current compared with a lower-voltage design, which means smaller wiring runs and lower voltage drop concerns inside the machine enclosure. Still, 2000W is a serious load. You need to spec the supply, contactor, and terminals to match, and make sure the blowing machine’s ventilation and reflector geometry can shed the waste heat.
Material and Design: Halogen, Quartz, and the SK15 Base
This is a halogen lamp, which means the filament runs hotter and brighter than a standard incandescent, and the halogen cycle keeps the quartz envelope cleaner. The quartz envelope handles high operating temperatures and has strong transmission in the infrared range, which is what you need for plastic heating. The “half-white” construction indicates the lamp uses a reflective coating on part of the outer surface. The coated half reflects infrared energy forward, increasing power density on the target and reducing wasted side radiation. The uncoated half allows some broad-spectrum output, which can help even out temperature distribution and reduce local hot spots. The SK15 base is a bi-pin connector built for high-temperature service. It gives you solid mechanical retention and repeatable electrical contact, so the lamp can take vibration and thermal cycling without arcing or intermittent connections. This is a drop-in replacement design, so you can swap lamps quickly during maintenance.
Application and Benefits in Blowing Machines
In blowing machines, you need heat on demand, with fast recovery after door cycles, part changes, or line stops. A 2000W halogen lamp delivers rapid response, so the heater can come back to set temperature quickly and keep the process stable. The 350mm length and half-white reflector help you cover the critical heating zone with fewer lamps, simplifying the machine layout and reducing hot spots. For engineers, this configuration means predictable heating, simpler wiring, and easier service. The trade-off is thermal management. A 2000W lamp will run hot, and reflector cleanliness matters. Keep the reflector clean and ensure proper airflow, or the lamp will run hotter than designed and shorten service life.
