
Getting Your PET Preforms Just Right: The 2000W R7s Halogen
When you’re dealing with PET blow molding, heat isn’t just a requirement—it’s everything. We built these 2000W halogen lamps to handle that brutal environment. The whole goal here is to get those preforms soft and ready for the mold as fast as humanly possible. The power behind it Packing 2000W into a 10mm tube creates some serious heat. It’s intense. This is how we get the plastic to hit its transition temperature in a matter of seconds. But here’s a tip: double-check your power supply. If your wiring is too thin, you’re going to deal with voltage drops. And when that happens, your cycle times crawl. Nobody wants that. No-fuss installation We used the R7s base because it’s a simple spring-loaded clip. It means these are basically “plug and play.” When a tube finally burns out, you can swap it in quickly without fighting with some over-engineered housing. Inside, we use heavy-wall quartz glass. This keeps the halogen cycle working and stops the tungsten filament from gunking up the glass. The result? The light stays clear and the heat stays consistent. Making it work on the floor In the machine, these lamps blast shortwave infrared radiation. It’s great because the heat sinks into the PET wall quickly. You won’t end up with a burnt exterior and a cold core. One big warning, though:keep the tubes clean. A single fingerprint or a smudge of oil can create a “hot spot.” Under that kind of thermal stress, the glass will just crack. Grab some isopropyl alcohol and wipe them down. And keep an eye on your cooling fans. 2000W of concentrated heat is a lot for any oven to handle. If your airflow gets blocked, your housings will overheat and your filaments will die way sooner than they should.
