Power, Voltage, and Dimensions: The Shop-Floor Reality
When you’re running a blow-molding line, you need heat fast, in a tight space. These lamps run at 400V and 2500W, pushing the quartz tube to temperatures that deliver serious shortwave infrared. That power is there for a reason: rapid heat-up and a stable running temperature, so the preform surface hits its melt point quickly. But specs are only useful if the lamp fits your machine. These come in at 300mm long, with a 10mm tube diameter, so the heat pattern matches what you’re already using in common heater banks. The S-shape spreads the hot zone over a longer path without taking up extra space. The round shape gives you a symmetrical heat field. Either way, you get repeatable heating across the preform wall thickness—no guesswork, just consistency.
What’s Inside: Halogen, Quartz, and the R7s Connector
Inside, the lamp runs on a halogen cycle, sealed in high-purity quartz. That matters on a long shift. It keeps the filament stable at high heat and helps prevent blackening, so the output stays steady—even after hours of running. Quartz also transmits shortwave infrared efficiently, sending the energy straight where it needs to go: onto the preform. Then there’s the connector. We use R7s because it’s built for industrial heat. It handles high current, locks in tight, and makes lamp changes fast. Wire it once, and it stays put. If your machine uses something different, we’ve got options like SK15, but for most PET blowing heaters, R7s is the go-to for a straight swap.
How It Performs on the Line—And What to Watch For
In PET bottle blowing, the lamp has one job: heat the preform evenly before it hits the mold. The round and S-shape layouts let you match the heating profile to the preform shape, which helps reduce thin spots and stress lines. And because shortwave infrared responds quickly, you get tighter control over the heating window—meaning more consistent bottle weight and strength. Here’s the trade-off, though: this is a 400V, 2500W lamp, so the heat density is serious. Your machine’s cooling and airflow have to be up to the task. If the cooling is undersized, the area around the lamp gets too hot, and that shortens component life—sometimes leading to early burn-out. But when the lamp and the system are properly matched, you get repeatable heat output and fewer surprises—just the kind of reliability that keeps a line moving.
