
Introduction
We built the SIPA SFR 12 infrared radiator for one reason: to keep pace with the punishing rhythm of SACMI rotary blow molding lines. In these machines, heating sets the beat. If the lamp can’t hit temperature fast, the whole turret stumbles. So we engineered the SFR 12 as a shortwave infrared lamp that wakes up instantly, holds steady, and drops right into SACMI-compatible heating stations.
Power, Voltage, and Geometry—Why It Matters
The SFR 12 is a high-density heater, shaped to fit the tight corners of rotary blow molding sections. Its size and electrical specs aren’t random—they’re matched to the process. You get heat exactly where you need it, without fighting for space. It runs at 400V, which keeps things stable on the machine’s power system and helps curb startup surges. That matters because fast response and high wattage density push the electrical limits. Here’s the trade-off: packing this much heat into a short tube means your cooling and airflow have to be up to the task. If the area around the lamp runs too hot, output drifts and lamp life suffers.
What’s Inside: Halogen, Quartz, and the Right Connection
Fast startup begins at the filament. We use a shortwave, halogen-filled design inside a quartz envelope. The halogen cycle keeps the filament steady at high temps, so output stays consistent over time. Quartz delivers shortwave IR efficiently, sending energy straight into the PET preform surface instead of wasting it warming the surrounding hardware. For installation, the SFR 12 uses an R7s connector. It’s a practical choice—easy mounting and solid contact in compact heating blocks. The whole build is tough enough for the constant vibration of a rotary turret, but it still needs proper alignment and clean contacts. Otherwise, you’ll see arcing and uneven heating.
On the Line: Keeping SACMI’s Beat
On a SACMI rotary blow molding platform, the heating section has to re-stabilize quickly after each index. The SFR 12’s rapid thermal response cuts the time from cold start to set temperature, so the heating profile stays consistent across all cavities. For you on the shop floor, that means fewer temperature-related rejects and less time chasing differences from lamp to lamp. It’s SACMI-compatible and engineered as a direct replacement in standard heating stations, so you swap it in without redesigning the machine. Wire it up, set the focus, and run. Just remember: you’re getting high heat density, so plan your cooling accordingly.
