Keeping Ducklings Warm Without the Brand-Name Price Tag
When you’re looking for a replacement heat lamp for your brooder, the name on the box doesn’t actually do the heating. The physics do. We make infrared lamps that do the exact same job as those expensive, big-brand options—delivering the same warmth and light without the ridiculous markup.
Getting the heat just right
Ducklings need a specific kind of warmth. It has to feel like they’re tucked under their mother, not like they’re sitting on a toaster. We use halogen-filled quartz for our bulbs. Why? Because it lets us pack a lot of power into a small space without frying the filament. By tweaking the glass thickness and gas pressure, we keep the heat steady. Instead of just warming up the air in the room, the heat actually sinks into the ducklings’ down feathers. That’s where they need it most.
No need to rewire everything
There’s nothing worse than buying a new part and realizing it doesn’t fit. We use standard R7s and Sk15 connectors, so these should slide right into your current fixtures. We also treated the quartz glass to handle “thermal shock.” Basically, if the lamp cools down quickly, it won’t crack. It’s tough.
A couple of things to keep in mind
These lamps put out a lot of energy. Which is fantastic if you’re dealing with a freezing barn, but it means you have to be careful with where you hang them. If they’re too low, you’ll cook the bedding. Just keep an eye on your mounting height. Also, make sure your thermostats and dimmer switches can handle the initial “kick” of power when the lamps first turn on. We’ve put our lamps side-by-side with the industry leaders. The heat patterns are practically identical. You get the same warmth per square inch, just for a lot less money.
