If you run SACMI rotary machines, you know the drill. They move fast. Really fast. But when you’re starting up or switching cycles, that speed is a liability if your heat isn’t ready. Any lag in heat delivery means your preforms don’t heat evenly. Then you’re staring at wall-thickness defects and wasting material. We got tired of that, so we built replacement lamps that actually hit target temperatures quickly. How we actually made them faster It comes down to the physics of the filament and the voltage. We focused on creating a dense heat zone by packing high wattage into a shorter length. We also tweaked the thickness of the quartz envelope. Why? Because it lets the infrared radiation punch through to the PET preform faster. You get a sharper spike of heat, which means you can skip those endless warm-up cycles and just get to work. No headaches during install We didn’t want you spending hours on a retrofit. These are simple drop-in replacements. They use standard connectors, so they plug right into your existing SACMI housing without any fancy modifications. We used high-purity quartz glass to stop that annoying clouding from happening too soon. Plus, we filled them with halogen gas. This lets the filament run hotter without burning out, even when those aggressive power surges hit during a fast start. The “Real World” catch Here’s the thing: high heat density is great, but it’s not magic. Since these lamps ramp up so quickly, they put a lot more stress on your reflectors. If your reflectors are dirty or pitted, a huge chunk of that IR energy just vanishes. You’ve got to keep the oven internals spotless to actually feel the speed difference. One more tip: keep an eye on your power supply. If your voltage is jumping around, the filaments will flicker. And in this business, a flicker is the difference between a perfect bottle and a structural failure.
