
Getting Your Wood Dry Without Breaking the Bank
When you’re putting together a wood drying line, it’s easy to get caught up in the big brand names. But if you actually look under the hood, the only things that really matter are how much heat you’re throwing at the wood and whether the filament can handle it. We build our infrared lamps to be simple, drop-in replacements. We don’t care about the badge on the box—we care about the thermal output. The heat that actually works Drying wood is a balancing act. You need to get the moisture out fast, but you can’t just torch the surface. That’s why we use shortwave infrared. Instead of just heating up the air around the wood, this heat actually sinks into the grain. By tweaking the wattage and voltage, we can pack more power into shorter tubes. You get that same heavy-duty heat flux you’d expect from those expensive European or American brands, just without the “luxury” price tag. Built to last (and fit) Cheap glass burns out. To stop that, we use high-purity quartz. We also make sure the filament is centered perfectly. Why? Because if it sags when it gets screaming hot, the lamp dies. Getting them installed is the easy part. We use standard R7s or SK15 connectors, so you can just plug them into your existing setup. No need to rebuild your machine or rewire your shop. And if your shop is dusty or you’re dealing with sticky resins, we’ve got coated versions. It keeps the tubes clean and prevents those annoying hot spots that ruin a piece of lumber. A few things to keep in mind Here’s the deal: these lamps put out a massive amount of heat. If you’re upgrading from a weaker lamp, double-check your breakers first. You don’t want to trip the power the moment you flip the switch. You’ll also need to watch your conveyor speed. These things hit full temperature almost instantly. If your belt is moving too slowly, you’re going to end up with charred wood. At the end of the day, it’s just physics. You get the same drying cycles and the same throughput, but you spend a lot less every time a bulb needs replacing.
